The plan for today is to get to Spokane, WA! It's warm and sunny....warm being 50's!
Leftovers:
Shout out to Jack who owns a vintage Airstream given to him by his father, the couple from Washington, D.C.
The weather girl cracked us up this morning. She used the word "mellow" 3 times in her weather forecast. "The river is flooding, but will mellow out today." Next time it was "chill out." "The river will chill out today and go down."
Second Chrissy Hissy with a paper towel. Snow storm in the truck.
I know David loves me! He paid $2.00 for a Dr. Pepper!
We've seen tons of adjustable legged cows and horses. How else could they stand on those steep hillsides?
We said goodbye to Theresa, but missed Sandy and Catherine!
Here's what's left of my lemon pie:
I forgot to send the photo of the Blackfeet Nation Prayer Flags. We saw them in town, also.
This time I listened to Sir Garmin of GPS and he routed us around Kalilspell. Scenes from the road:
Lots of Ten Commandment signs: www.gods10.us
Lots of messages about not using meth
Cowboys playing golf with cowboy hats on
IDAHO!
We bought ribeyes in Hungry Horse, MT for $6.99 so we decided we'd get some baking potatoes. Stopped at WalMart in Idaho and they had NONE! They were out. Where do you get them if not in Idaho?
We had lunch in a pullout in Montana. Now that we've changed to Pacific time, I think we need to stop for lunch again. David says no....
Song of the day: "Dead Skunk In The Middle Of The Road." If you haven't heard this one, check it out on I-Tunes. We saw them run over on the side of the road and smelled them even when we couldn't see them.
We're now on the Flathead Reservation. We've seen coyotes and a bear. Well, the bear was dead and in the road. It was "napping" in the other lane.
We had to stop on one road for construction and we waited for a pilot car to lead us forward. We waited and waited and waited. David said the pilot car was right in front of us...a Honda Pilot. Before he could make another bad joke, we got to go!
Passed YaYa's Organic Quilts. No idea...
Stopped at a rest area and ran across tons of these critters. No, I didn't drop the bag:
There were a lot of these critters running around the rest area. They had burrows and sat up like prairie dogs. Fortunately Chrissy never noticed them even though they came within feet of her!
We came through Coure d'Alene. It's named for an Indian tribe and roughly translates "Heart of an Awl." They were known to be shrewd traders.
Okay....Lookout Pass. As we crossed it and started down, I asked David if it was Lookout as in "Lookout Below!" or "Look out over that scenery." He didn't reply....just kept his head up looking at the road and gripping the wheel. Then I asked him if we go "whhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" going down the hill. I got a really dirty look.
The curves going downhill were horrible!!! It was raining and big trucks were passing us flying down the hill. I kept trying to put my brake on, but it wasn't working. It was no fun going up and down the mountains. I was sorry I asked!
We needed fuel and pulled off the interstate at Post Falls, ID. We noticed an RV park next door, so we decided to pull in there for the night instead of Spokane. Good idea. We were all very tired!
See ya down the road!
Jenny :)
