Day 20 - What an adventure!!! Part Two

Coming back down Highway 89 we spotted an Airstream pulled off on the left side of the road.  Looking back, it appeared they'd had a flat.  We turned around to see if we could help.  We've had them before on ours and wished we'd had someone to help us!

It was more than a flat.  One of the rims had broken as had at least one axle.  Ed had pulled the Airstream over to take a picture and had hit a stump on the edge of the road.  It caused the damage.  Bunny said it sounded like an explosion when it happened.  It caused cabinets to open inside the RV and threw things around.  Their cell phone service was AT&T and it wouldn't work where they were.  Ours was Verizon and it was working so we handed them our phone and urged them to use it.  After a few calls, the insurance company said it would be 20 minutes before someone would be there.  After many more calls, it was explained to the company that a wrecker couldn't tow the RV and that it would need to be loaded on a flatbed and hauled in for repairs.

Ed and Bunny are from Washington State and were headed to Vermont for a wedding in July.  We found that Ed was born in Talladega, Alabama!   They live on Puget Sound and enjoy RV'ing like we do.  We waited with them for four hours until help arrived in the form of Todd and a flatbed trailer.  They kept trying to get us to leave, but we didn't want to leave them alone with no phone.  Todd's company kept us up-to-date as to where he was and when he should arrive.

Bunny and I enjoyed a short nature walk...finding a place to "go" in the woods.  On the way we discovered many beautiful wild flowers.  Photos coming!   She had purchased a placemat/guide to the area wildflowers.  (Bunny, I found mine today!).  We saw Glacier Lily and Woodland Shooting Star.  We saw wild strawberry and yarrow.  We also discovered a secluded spot!  We did keep a lookout for bears, too!  LOL

We drove back to the campground about 8:00 p.m. when Todd arrived.  It took about an hour to get back and the sun was just beginning to set!

This was the sunset on the mountains as we pulled into the campground:

We ate a light dinner and got ready for bed.  Bunny and Ed said they would let us know how it went. We don't have cell phone service in the campground, so I guess it will be tomorrow before we find out how it ended!

See ya down the road!

Jenny :)
