Raining as we pulled out of West Yellowstone, MT.
Forgot to share a funny from the other day in Cooke City, MT. The owner of the restaurant found out we were from Alabama. He asked us if Nick Saban had been elected governor yet!
Never knew Montana's countryside could be so diverse. I pictured it with "big sky." Well, they also have BIG mountains. One in particular today was quite a pull!
We passed an earthquake area. We passed an avalanche area. We passed huge mountains. We passed rolling fields with cattle, horses, and no trees.
We saw so many black cattle that David took to calling them black elk!
We saw a rancher fixing his barbed wire fence.
We saw three cowboys on horses moving a large herd of "black elk."
We saw another rancher working on some equipment, but didn't see how he got there. Just down the road was a motorcycle.
We visited WalMart in Butte and finally got an atlas. Now I can really tell David where to go! LOL
After dinner, we took a walk with the dog. Geese were everywhere along the walking track. They had such cute babies! We also met an interesting lady on the walking trail. There was a threat of rain in the air so she had on a raincoat - black patent leather raincoat. Chrissy was with us and she got to telling us about all three dachshunds she'd had. She also said her favorite dachshund and her husband died on her 50th birthday. She kept talking about the dog and I wondered who she missed the most!
Off to Glacier National Park tomorrow. We heard on the news that the Going to the Sun Road won't be open until June 18. Sorry we'll miss that road. It's really great, but it's scary, too.
We're also going to meet some friends at the Flying J near Great Falls.
Sorry there aren't any photos today. Just wasn't a day for them!
See ya down the road!
Jenny :)
