Sunday was get in free day at Glacier and there were a lot of people in the park! We couldn't get to many of the few pullouts that were open, so we decided to give it a shot again today!
The people have been replaced by road construction. One lane open and many of the lookouts blocked. Glad we got our mountain pictures on the east side of the park. We did spend a little time in Apgar Village near Lake McDonald. We ran into a black couple from near El Paso, TX. He's a Church of Christ minister and the only black man in town. He was visiting the park with his son and grandson. Those two got into the water of Lake McDonald. It's a glacial lake and extremely cold. I stuck my foot in and had cramps in my toes for a while! Here's a photo of Shane and Sean swimming in Lake McDonald:
I can assure you they were quite cold!
The next photo is one of us...look carefully at the shadows on the lake. It's me and David and Chrissy!
We talked to Ed and Bunny today. The news wasn't good for the RV. The place they were towed to realized the damage was more than they could handle. We have plans to meet them for dinner and we'll find out more then.
We spent a little more time in the park and headed back to the campsite as it was beginning to rain. The rain got heavy and it started to thunder. Then the hail started. Hail sounds great on a metal roof, but not in an metal Airstream. The hail lasted about 15-20 minutes and was small. Fortunately!
Here are what the clouds looked like after the storm passed us and moved on to Kalispell.
We heard again from Ed and Bunny and the news was better, but we'd have to wait until we got to Kalispell for dinner to find out! We left about 5:30 p.m. and ignored the GPS when it said turn left. Should have turned left. It would have cut 10 minutes off our time! LOL
We met them at the Econo-Lodge and they asked us in. The repair guy knew a guy in town who worked with trucks/trailers and could fix their RV. He was familiar with the axles that Airstream uses and could re-align the unit, too. To make it even better, he told them they could stay in the RV on site so they wouldn't have to stay in a hotel for 2-3 weeks! He had a coverage place for them to park, electricity and sewer. What more could you ask for? Prayers were answered for them!
We drove to a steak place called Spencer and Company. We agreed to go casual so I had on jeans and my Mark Martin (6) sweatshirt. Bunny had on jeans, too, so we were very comfortable. Our waitress even turned out to be a Mark and Smoke fan! Finally, someone to talk to about NASCAR! LOL
The steaks couldn't have been better. The company and the conversation were the best! Ed and Bunny may be new friends, but now they feel like old friend. Hope we'll seem them again sometime!
On the drive back:
Lilacs blooming everywhere!
Cowboy Church - evening service starts at 5:59 p.m.
Camping - Nature's way of feeding mosquitoes
It was almost 9:00 p.m. when we got back and the sun still had not set! Crazy!
See ya down the road!
Jenny :)
