Day 4 - Oklahoma City to Tucumari, NM

58 degrees and really windy.  Partly cloudy.  Actually ran the heat for a short time this morning!  Pulled out at 8:20 a.m.

Weather is great after all the chaos of yesterday!  Only problem is - I40!  It's bumpy and full of holes.  Just when you think it's going to straighten out, it gets all bumpy again.  Opened the trailer on a stop and found several drawers open!

Fragrance of the day is Eau de Skunk!  Saw/smelled several of them along the way.

More road kill:  Armadillo next to a Coke can.  Why are they always found with their feet up?  Strangest one of the day - a porcupine!

I was amazed how many celebrities call Oklahoma home:

Carrie Underwood - American Idol
Garth Brooks - Country Singer
Gen. Tom Stafford - Astronaut
Roger Miller - Country Singer

TEXAS!  11:24 a.m.

Amarillo by Mid-Day!

The Big Texan is located in Amarillo.  If you can eat at 72 ounce steak and the trimmings in an hour, it's free!  I did good to eat a small ribeye here before!  We actually didn't eat lunch here...just thought I'd share a memory.

More sights on the road.   These two were close to Groom, TX

On to Tucumcari, NM at 4:00 p.m.

The actual stop was to be first in Albuquerque, but too far to drive, then in Santa Rose, but we were all tired, so we pulled into the KOA in Tucumcari.  The town is famous for being on Route 66 and all the neon on the motels and restaurants.  Didn't see any of them.  We haven't unhooked the truck in days!  We'll stay here a couple of nights on the way back.

Outside the RV are several beautiful yellow birds.  They are larger than mockingbirds and have black wings.  Quite noisy and quite fanciful in their flight.  Hope to find out what they are.

David made pizza, went sat outside, and then off to bed.  Tired!

See ya down the road!

Jenny :)
